In 2 days, animal rescue groups from across Maricopa County will head to the AMF Bowling Center in Scottsdale for PACC911’s 10th annual Bowl-a-Rama For Animal Rescue. If you’ve never attended this event then you might want to catch it when it happens this year. Probably every imaginable animal rescue group from all parts of the Phoenix metro area will be there, bowling their hearts out to raise money for the animals. The idea is simple, the animal rescue organizations get a team of bowlers together, they collect pledges from donors and they bowl. All of the money they raise goes towards their rescues. Not a bad plan at all.
Of course Bowl-a-Rama also helps raise money for PACC911’s emergency medical fund which provides financial aid to non-profit animal rescue organizations that need emergency assistance with certain medical costs. Overall, a needy cause that keeps giving long after the event is over. But there’s one other portion of the event that truly makes Bowl-a-Rama the unique spectacle that it is. That’s the energy that the rescues can bring to the event.
Yes, there’s no shortage of passion at Bowl-a-Rama, because everyone that attends comes together for the animals, whether your fancy is cats, dogs, guinea pigs, rats, or any other 4-legged creature. Also, besides watching people bowl for their respective rescues you might also see people dress up in costume and some teams have themes where they win prizes for their respective organizations. Overall, you don’t have to wait for Halloween to dress up and have fun. Coming in costume is pretty much normal.
It’s also a good idea to bring money as well as PACC911 will host a silent auction where there’s many goodies to bid on. So bring your smiles and your voice (to cheer on your favorite rescue) and head to Bowl-a-Rama this Saturday. It’s a great way to spend the day getting to know the animal rescuers and understanding the vital role their organizations have in the community. Who knows, you may end up becoming joining them one day after seeing this event.
Bowl-a-Rama For Animal Rescue will happen August 4th from 9am – 5pm at the AMF Bowling Center located at 7300 E. Thomas Rd in Scottsdale.
